The title "LANDSCAPES & STILL LIFE" is one of convenience rather than of substance, for still life is anything but “still” and landscapes are as alive as the biological components that decorate them.
There is sensuality in the application of oil pigments to canvas or board that is hard to match with other mediums, although encaustic painting is a close cousin and modern high viscosity acrylic pigments can have a similar, if in my opinion, shallower feel to them. Nevertheless, the options open to the artist in applying oil pigments, be they as delicate glazes, bold brush stroke applications, or aggressive impasto techniques using a palette knife, all stimulate the artistic imagination as do few other mediums.
